Open Auditions for Camburrow

Camburrow is one of those film projects that allows Blue Ocean to welcome new members to the group and "ease them in" to film making as a rewarding passtime. We will be looking for actors to take a variety of parts, some simply as extras filling the pews of a Cornish chapel or in the background creating a busy scene near Camburrow mine.

If you're up for a few more lines we're interested in creating a part for you - this is still a work in progress. We don't mind if you've never acted before or never done film before! All we need is the following

  • The commitment to turn up to shoots when agreed
  • Own Transport - or a reliable lift!
  • A willingness to help with costume either by sourcing appropriate clothes or even making a simple outfit yourself

We need men and women for Camburrow. We will consider actors below the age of 18 but they will need to be accompanied by a parent at all times.

If you want to get involved, CONTACT COLTON SEARS by email: blueoceanpictures@hotmail.com

From Tiny Acorns....

It would be fair to say that the "birth" of this idea happened in Colton's head some time ago. He even went so far as to script an early version of Camburrow but, as with any creative project, we expect the final result to have morphed considerably by the time it ends up on the screen!

The journey from "concept" to "Film" began in earnest this week however. Colton has somehow managed to wangle himself no less than TWO voluntary PAs to help him with the logistics of this film - nice work there!

The creative journey also began when Col and I met on Wednesday evening which was noted for blustery winds, wintry showers and some flooding around Devon and Cornwall. A fitting backdrop to our tale perhaps though hopefully not a foretaste of filming conditions to come!

The purpose of our meeting was to thrash out some character ideas, maybe get an idea of plot outline, and lay the groundwork for some screenplay writing. In this I think it's fair to say we were successful.

I find it easy to see where Colton wants to go with this project and I have to say the idea of Camburrow's central heroine, Charlotte Trevillion, is what I think will drive the film's plot as much as the varied elements of high drama associated with the dangerous business of mining. We've expanded a bit on our ideas for the main characters in the film - from local land owners in cahoots with the military, to the mine captains and Charlotte and her household.

We haven't actually finished planning the entire plot, however. It is proving all too easy to find exciting side roads and plot twists and I'm not sure we're looking to go for a 3 hour epic here (watch this space though on that one!). So we brainstormed, made copious notes then settled on finalizing the earliest stages of the film - Charlotte's arrival, some family tensions, trouble down the mine, an introduction to the local gentry and Charlotte's discovery of the abandoned working she will want to revive and mine.

Col and I split this into scenes and have divided the writing between us. We will no doubt meet again soon for the next phase!
